Kesler's Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Kesler's 4th birthday at the Kerrisdale Play Palace.  We got there quite late (an hour late) so the kiddies were just happy that we made it there before the party ended.  With little Josh and his unpredictable sleeping/eating schedule, we never know exactly when we can get out of the house.

Unfortunately, we didn't get a pic with Kesler... they kids were running everywhere!  And of course, Josh had to do a mass poop as soon as we arrived so I was in the washroom for quite some time.  The girls both had a great time going down the slides and eating 3 slices of cake (that's Julia, Jas didn't want any).  Yum.  Thanks for having us.

Unwanted Visitor (video)

Something happened today.....

We recently found out that there was something living on our balcony, under our patio set cover.  We found out only accidentally, when we heard a growling sound when someone tried to open the patio cover.  We don't know when it started living under there and had no clue what it was.  Scary...

Here's the video we took when we tried to get it to leave.  It was a raccoon and her baby!

Happy Mother's Day! (video)

Today is a very special Mother's Day, my first Mother's Day with 3 kids!  Wow.  A milestone for sure.  I'm one proud Mommy.  I love three of my beautiful kiddies.

We celebrated by having a Tweetie ice cream cake (my belly LOVES it...since I'm on a diet...I have to get back into my work clothes).  We even managed to get a pic with all the kids looking into the camera, eyes open.  That's always a challenge.

Today is also special because Jas performed at the church where she goes to Chinese school.  Although I wasn't able to attend in person (due to putting Josh down for his morning nap), the performance was recorded and I was able to watch it.  Here's Jas singing and dancing on stage:

I'm looking forward to many future Mother's days and watching all three kids grow up.

Suraiya birthday with Disney

We were invited to Suraiya's birthday party this weekend, one of Jasmine's best friends at school.  It was at a pizza restaurant and several of other school friends were there.  We met many parents at this party.  The kids had a blast, running around and talking to each other.  We got a feel of the dynamics of the classroom.  We even had special guests, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck too!

Too bad the party started late at 7:30pm and we had to leave at 10pm, after the cake was cut.  It was a fun day.

Sleep Feed Schedule at 8 months

Josh has been sleeping through the night for quite some time now.  I've been writing down his wake times, feed times, sleep times, when and how long, to get a feel of his daily schedule.  It kinda looks like this:

7am - wake
7:15am - 4oz milk
8:45am - 4oz milk
9am - nap (30mins to 1 hour)
10am - wake
11:15am - solids
12:30pm - 7oz milk
1pm - nap (45mins to 1.5 hours)
2:30-ish - wake
4:30pm - 7oz milk
5pm - nap (30mins to 1 hour)
6pm - wake
7pm - solids
7:45pm - bath
8pm - 8oz milk
9pm - sleep

The schedule is never consistent because I never know how long Josh's naps are but we sort of have a routine going. I find that his naps usually add up to about 2.5 hours each day.  So if he has a long nap in the morning and in the afternoon, then the 5pm nap will be short.  If he has a short morning nap and short afternoon nap, then his 5pm nap will be longer.  He is sleeping a good 10 hours each night now... thank goodness.

As for solid foods, he's not eating much at all.  If we can get him to finish 1 tablespoon (15ml) of each oatmeal and fruit/veggie, then we are doing great.  But most days, he'll eat half of what we give him.  I'm not worried though, as he's taking in more than 25oz of breastmilk each day.  I can see him losing his fatty meat now since he's growing taller.

I've started reading the book Baby Led Weaning and will try to start feeding him finger foods soon.  We'll see how that goes.
