Snowing - First Time Sledding (video)

It's snowing!!!  The kids are in love - with the snow of course.

Well, it's not often the kiddies get to play in snow so we let them go crazy.  The kiddies spent all day in the snow and when Daddy got off work, we all drove to the nearby hill for some sledding action (finally got to use these new boards - bought them 2 years ago).

First time sledding and I think they are addicted.  You can hear both Jas and Julia laughing hysterically in the video.  It was pretty much pitch black when we got to the hill so the video is kinda dark.  It's Josh's first time experiencing the coldness and he doesn't mind being wet.  He kept on sticking his tongue out, trying to taste it I think.

Can't wait til next year when all 3 kids can go sledding.

Julia`s Bowling Bash (video)

I can't believe Julia is 4 years old!  Such a big girl now.

It's been 3 lonnnngggg years since Julia had a birthday party.  Her last bday party was when she turned 1, so we thought it's time for her to have another one.  This year, she celebrated by having a bowling party.  Thanks to everyone who were able to come out last minute.  It was snowing that day too so I was praying that people would be able to make it out.

We played 5 pin bowling, my first time and I heard it was several other's first experience with 5 pin.  The balls are much smaller (better for the kids) but it was also alot harder to hit the pins down.  Lucky we have those gutter thingys up.  Nevertheless, it was a fun day and people seemed to be having a good time.

Because it was at the bowling alley and we weren't allowed to bring a cake, I made tiny ice cream cakes as a substitute.  I had to sneak it in.  No plates or forks needed.  Just grab and go. Take a peek, don't they look real?  (click on pics to enlarge).

Full 8oz Bottles - Freezer Stash

2 things happened that I never thought would happen:

#1 - I've been steadily increasing the amount in each of Josh's bottles for each feeding.  It went from 5oz to 6oz to 7oz and now 8oz!  I can't believe it!  That's usually the bottle before bed though.  The normal day bottles are mostly 7oz.  Both Jas and Julia never ever ate more than 6oz EVER (Jas ate mostly 4oz and Julia stuck around 5oz) so this totally blew me away.  Look at this monstrous bottle.

#2 - You know that 7 cubic ft freezer we purchased in October to store milk?  Well, it's full! Full of milk!  In order for me to put more milk into the freezer, I had to throw out the oldest milk in there, the stuff from his newborn phase.  It was heartbreaking, all the liquid gold but it had to be done.  I threw out 40 bags at 6oz each = 240 oz = 7.2 litres of milk!

Josh at 6 Months - First tooth!

Josh is now 6 months old - happy 1/2 birthday!  Since he only got his shots last month, we need to wait until he is 7 months to do a proper weigh in.  On the home-scale, Josh now weighs 19.5 lbs.

He's been teething all week, drooling all over the place.  He was fighting feeds while we were on our trip but we thought he was just fussy from being off-schedule but nope - finally, he's got one bottom tooth!  He sure looks happy here.

First Movie - Julia Birthday with Yee Yee

It's Jules 4th birthday coming up and nice Yee Yee decided to take her out for her first movie!  They watched Frozen at Metrotown.  I haven't seen the movie but apparently, there was a scary snowman in the movie and Julia was quite frightened.

When I went to pick them up at the theatre, Julia looked so happy.  I thought she'd be tired but she was excited and full of energy.  Probably from the pop and popcorn and candies she ate over the past 2 hours.  She had a fabulous time and kept on talking about it after she got home.  Poor Jas missed out on the fun (she had school).

Thanks Yee Yee for making Julia so happy today.  (need to get a pic of Yee Yee and Julia together!!!!!)

Vegas Fun - First trip for Josh

We are back from Las Vegas!  What a trip.  We've been going to Vegas each year for the past few years and having little Josh with us this year didn't stop us from going.  It was his first flight so we were expecting the worst but it all turned out ok.  He didn't fuss much during the flight and was well behaved even with his cold and stuffy nose.  Josh liked the plane so much that he imitates a plane when doing tummy time:

Because we had a minor with us, it was harder to find time to gamble. In fact, when we tried to get a pic of Josh with us by the slot machines, we were chased away by one of the reps on the floor.  Not a bad thing really.  We came out losers this trip...  We did alot of shopping and eating.  The buffet at our hotel (Palms Casino) was a great place to eat.  On the Tuesday night, we accidentally bumped into Seafood night at the buffet and it was fabulous.  It was $16.99/person with players card and included beer/wine and all the alaskan crab legs you could eat.  I lost track how many plates I went through.  Josh really likes the beer...haha.

On every trip, we try to visit a park or check out one of the sites so this year, we went to Red Rock Canyon which is a national conservation park, about 30 minutes from Vegas.  We spent an afternoon out there and managed to see the sunset while driving back into town.  The sky was bright pink and orange.   There is a spikey tree called the Joshua tree so we had to get a pic of it.

Given how well this trip went, I would definitely take Josh on another trip later this year if the price is right.

Video of the girls (video)

Here is a video of the girls.  Since Jas always runs away from the camera, Julia stars in most of it.

Video - Josh from birth to 5 months (video)

Since Josh was born, I haven't had any time to convert any videos (or do anything much other than taking care of him...)  Here is finally a video of Josh since his birth until 5 months old.

Josh is Rolling!

Well, it finally happened.  I've been encouraging Josh to roll from tummy to back to tummy again for the past month but he usually just lays there.  Today while we put him to nap on his back, he suddenly started screaming and screaming.  We ran into the room and saw that he was face down in the crib on his belly!  He rolled over!  Yay!  Other than his arm (it got stuck in between one of the crib slats) and he couldn't get out, he seemed fine.

I'm guessing he'll be practicing rolling in bed for the next few weeks until he masters this new skill.  We are going to have many long nights I think...

Benjie's Firefighter Party

Happy Bday to Benjie.  We were very fortunate to tour the Burnaby fire hall today.  Ben is really interested in fire trucks and ambulances so his bday party took place at a fire station!  Coolz!  We got a tour of fire hall and the fire fighters let us climb onto their fire trucks.  Everyone had a blast.  After the tour, we went back to the house for some cake and food.  The girls had a fabulous time.  Even little Josh liked wearing the fireman's  hat.  Thanks for having us.
