6 Months - Doubled Birth Weight

Jasmine had her 6th month check up today. She got the usual shots and had her weight checked. She is 14lbs and 2 oz. and has finally doubled her birth weight (she weighed 7lb 8 oz at birth but went down to 6lb 14oz when discharged from the hospital). She is light for her age but is tall, at 75th percentile in length - tall and skinny baby.

Unfortunately Dr. Yee was not in when we went in for the check up and the different doc didn't check on as many things as Dr. Yee does (like checking the eyes, tongue, ask questions about rolling over, sitting up, crawling...)

Since we hit this topic, Jasmine just recently learned how to roll over (from belly to back). She's rolled over the other way before (from back to belly) but since she doesn't like belly time, she prefers to roll over one way only. Here, she is trying to sit up with the help of a pillow although she isn't successful at it yet. She keeps sliding on her side, S-L-O-W-L-Y.

Victoria Day Parade

We went over to Victoria during the Victoria Day Holiday weekend. This is the first time Richard and Jasmine saw the annual Victoria Day parade and they both enjoyed it alot. When one of the floats came by and hooted their horns, Jasmine got so scared and started crying. It was pretty cute.
The Leung Family haven't seen Jasmine in a couple of months and loved taking pics of her:

Bloody Mess

Jasmine was taking a regular nap today and woke up, kinda crying but kind of moaning. It sounded like a kitten-kind of cry. Anyways, after waiting 10 minutes and listening to her moan, I went into her room to check on her. OMG - what I found was a bloody mess.

Apparently, Jasmine managed to take off the mitts that were on her hands and she scratched her neck. Scratched so badly that there was blood all over her sheets, her sleep sack, her clothes, her right hand. There was blood everywhere. Darned eczema.... I placed a large bandage on Jasmine's neck, in case she tries to scratch her neck again. It's hard to control those tiny hands and fingers; she doesn't know what she is doing.

I remember a time (about a month ago) when I was washing dishes and I put Jasmine on the carpet with some toys. She started shrieking so I turned around to see what was going on. Jasmine was pulling on her own hair and was crying hysterically. She didn't know how to let go of her hair... So there she was, pulling on her own hair, and it hurt so she was crying. She was crying and crying. Silly girl, when will you learn?

First Mother's Day

Here's to my very first Mother's day. We actually celebrated the night before Mother's Day, as my Mom-in-law was busy on May 11th. We went out for dinner, nothing spectacular.

On actual Mother's day, it seemed like the beginning of another normal day. Actually, it was one of Jasmine's "bad-der" nights, as she woke up several times. I wasn't in a very good mood to start out, from the lack of sleep. And then Jasmine went on hunger strike for the rest of the day, which really drove me nutzoid. Imagine trying to feed her and she just wouldn't drink anything... this was definitely one of the not-so-good days but hey, things can only get better from here, right?

I managed to get out for some fresh air and clear my head. This is a pic of Jasmine and me before we head out. Congrats to all the new mom's out there, celebrating their first Mother's Day.
