ENT and Infrared Radiolgy

For Josh’s dysphagia, we met with the ENT specialist on March 9, to check the ear, neck throat areas for abnormalities.  Through the nose, they put a camera into Josh’s nose and pushed it up the nose and down his throat.  Sounds like an easy thing to do but this was done without any medicine or pain killers.  Poor baby was in so much pain and was crying through the entire process.

Josh couldn’t sit still so the first attempt failed.  Eeeks.  They called in a nurse to hold him down and tried again.  The second time worked fine but not until Josh was screaming.  😱 I was horrified.  At that point, I’d rather feed him blended food forever and not have him go through that again.

On March 11, Josh did an infrared radiology scan of his abdominal area.  Below is the fancy looking screenshots that were taken.  No clue what they mean but we were told everything looks normal.

Little Josh has Dysphagia

Little Josh has been having stomach issues since after having his appendix removed.  He is eating but the quantity of food has decreased by 50%.  He also complains that there is stomach pain, near the belly button area and feels full very quickly after eating only small amounts of food.

Sadly, starting March 1, Josh stopped eating solids completely.  He can’t swallow any solids, just blended food.  So we’ve been blending purée food for him ever since.  Our family physician has referred us to the BC Children’s hospital for further examination.  We are waiting for the specialist appointments.

Nose Bleed ER Visit

I’ve been having several nose bleeds this month and this episode landed me in the ER at 1am in the morning.  It started at 11:30pm when I stepped out of the shower.  All of a sudden, my nose started bleeding non-stop.  I debated whether to wait just a bit longer and maybe it’ll stop bleeding on its own.  But after 2 hours, I decided to go to the ER.

I sat at the ER for 3 hours.  And of course, when the physician came to see me, my nosebleed stopped already.  And he couldn’t see the location where it was bleeding.  He will refer me to see en ENT specialist and go from there.

Jan. 2 - nose bleed for 1 hr and 30mins

Jan. 15 - nose bleed for 1 hr and 40mins

Jan. 26 - nose bleed for 2 hours, ER

Daddy’s Birthday

It’s an important day today.  A very important Daddy is celebrating his birthday today.  Sadly, it’s a week day and work day so it was quite busy.  We ordered yummy sushi for dinner and had mango cake.

We will love you to pieces Daddy!  Wishing you a happy and successful year this year filled with promotions, good health and vacations!

Little J Is Going Home!

Little Josh is finally well enough to go home, after being in and out of hospital since December 31.  Yay!  What a relief.  His appendix was removed successfully via laparoscopic appendectomy.  Hoping he will make a full recovery over the next couple of weeks.

Even though the surgery was successful, it wasn’t without hiccups.  Because Josh’s condition was borderline for surgery, the physician suggested trying medication first instead of surgery.  So Josh was sent home on Jan. 1st evening with meds but it didn’t work.  Josh was in so much pain the next day, we went back to the ER on Jan. 2nd.  He was admitted immediately and scheduled for surgery that night.

Working at the BC Children’s Hospital, this is the first time being in the operating room on a personal basis.  The experience was excellent and completely caters to how the children would feel.  As the Mother, I was beside Josh the entire time when he was awake and only leaving him in the OR after he’s fallen asleep for the surgery.  I’m just happy that he can finally go home.  Love you baby!

New Years Hospital Visit

Our baby Josh hasn’t been eating at all since Dec. 29 lunch time.  He ate sushi and fried chicken for lunch and suddenly, he screamed from stomach pain. He refused to eat, wanted to throw up, felt full constantly and had pain in the belly right side area.

We’ve been giving him fluids for the past 48 hours.  The major concern now is, how long can he survive on such little liquid and no food?  We decided to take Josh to the Children’s ER for investigation.

Josh settled into the ER for 6 hours and was given an ultrasound to check his abdominal area.  Looks like he has appendicitis and was admitted to stay overnight for surgery the next day.

That was our last day of 2021.  Sadly, we had to cancel our New Years evening plans at a friend’s place.  We’d do anything to ensure our baby is healthy.  Happy new years!

Sledding Fun! Mommy’s Bday Cake (video)

I am so happy to live in beautiful Vancouver.    As with every birthday, I don’t have to work!  😁. We took the kiddies out to Kensington Park for some sledding fun.  This is the first year sledding here, as it has a fabulous hill. So glad we discovered it.

We had a very enjoyable morning, sledding on the hill and then had Churches Chicken for lunch.  Yum. A nice family pic of the day was my bday wish for this year and I got it.  Thank you kiddies.
