All Over Hives

Muimui has been having some funny rashes around her mouth lately which we think is due to food sensitivity.  And suddenly one day, she got all-over-body hives!  We don’t know what is causing it.  We racked our brains out to think of things that she may be sensitive to.  Soap?  Detergent?  Seafood?  MSG?  Food coloring?  Soy?  I dunno.

She was having fever as well and cold too.  I remember getting hives on my leg/torso area for a couple of days and I had no clue what that was about but it did go away on its own.  Poor Mui-jai, so itchy all over. We had to put on hydrocortizone cream and we gave her Benadryl every 6 hours as it did help a bit.  After 3 days and the hives wouldn’t let up, we went to see the doctor and was told to give her 5mg of Reactive non-drowsy kind, once a day.  It's better for her (no sedative) and can be used long term.

Muimui was scratching her face so badly that it looked like impetigo was forming so I used a home remedy with polysporin.  We used it 3 times a day after washing her face and peeling off all the crusty bits off.  After about a week, it looked much better and no oral meds were needed.  During this time, we were considering buying a new mattress and dust mite covers for all her bedding since I remember the allergist told us that she has a dust mite allergy.

Update - after 3 weeks, the hives went away finally.  We stopped the Reactine and the hives stayed away.  Thank goodness!  The doc informed that it may have been a viral thing and she may not have been allergic to anything after all.  We can only guess.

Connor Bday Party

Both Muimui and Beeps had a fun time today, attending Connor's 5th birthday party at the gymnastics center.  Unfortunately, due to Daidai's fight with his nap, we left the house late and only arrived 30 minutes into the party but they had a grand time anyways.

There was lots of chicken wings, noodles and cake for everyone. Too bad Muimui had a choking episode and was really affected by it.  She was shaken and really angry which involved a full tantrum session.  We took her into a separate room until she calmed down.  After that, she enjoyed a huge slab of cake and everything fine and dandy.
