Cupcakes! Last Day of Daycare (video)

It's Jas' last day at daycare tomorrow so we wanted to thank all the teachers and students in the class for putting up with her all this time... haha, just kidding.

We wanted to celebrate how much she's grown since going to daycare by making pumpkin chocolate cupcakes with special icing on top.  Both kiddies were very helpful with the task (video) and really enjoyed munching on them afterwards.

First Bike with Training Wheels

It's the end of the summer and alot of the bikes are on sale.  We bought both girls a bike with training wheels.  (we got both bikes for $100 taxes in!).  

Julia has a pink bike and Jas has a blue one (she really wanted the "Police" one but that's too expensive).  They are quite big for them so Jas is actually riding Julia's bike with the seat higher up until she gets the hang of riding.  Here's Jas posing with Julia's bike.  

Laser Eye Surgery

Tweet has laser eye surgery today and he's currently at home recovering.  He's taken a week off work for "vacation", so that his eyes can heal.  And just in time before we head out to Portland next week.  Let's hope that his eyes will recover quickly and have 20/20 vision.

Muimui - On Nebulizer

Poor Jules wasn't feeling well these past couple of nights.  She's been sleeping extra late and wakes several times at night.  We tried to do some sleep training again.

We left her in bed at 9:30pm and she kept on whining and whining.  After about 45 minutes, she started crying really loudly.  So we go in to check on her.  What did we find?  She barfed all over the crib!  Dang.  Had to lift her out of the smelly mess, plop her into the shower, change all the sheets Frebreeze her room...  so much for sleep training.  That was last night.

For tonight, we let her sleep late as she pleased.  When we put her down, we could hear her raspy throat every time she breathed in.  Muimui kept on saying "hou hou tong tong", meaning her mouth is hurting.  Uh-oh.  Her airways need to be opened up.  Lucky we have the nebulizer and some of Jas' meds from last time so we administered it for her.  Pretty much as soon as she was done, Jules fell asleep right away.  Phewf.

Unfortunately, it looks like we have another child with asthma.  Boo.

Choo Choo Train Weekend (video)

We had a free day today and decided to go to the Burnaby Confederation Park to ride the choo-choo train ride.  It was a perfect day for it, sunny but not too hot.  As a sun-conscious Mom, everyone had to put on sunscreen and hats before riding.  The kids had a great time.  I am surprised at how much the kids love going on rides (Mom and Pop genes).  

Afterwards, we went to Brentwood Mall to have a quick lunch and then spent some time at the playground area.  We bought some new sunglasses (the old ones disappeared after the move) and the kids insisted on wearing them on the merry-go-round.  Funny kids.

Queens Jubilee Medalist Ceremony

Lisa and I had the exciting opportunity to be a part of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals ceremony this past weekend which took place at Canada Place. "In 2012, Canada will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. The Diamond Jubilee is an opportunity to highlight those Canadians who, like Her Majesty, have dedicated themselves to service to family, community and country."

It was an honour to be up on stage with all the award recipients. We assisted Senator Larry Campbell, Jack Gin (Jack Gin Foundation) and Peter Jackman (Vancouver Foundation) on stage with presenting the awards and medals. After the event, Lisa and I went out for a quick bite to eat. We were close to Lisa's new work place so she took me to Rogue, by the Waterfront station. We had some sushi bombs, a salad and something else. Can't remember.  Did I only have one glass of wine?  Wow, look at that....yum.

Monkey See Monkey Do

Who has monkey's in the house?  We do, we do!  The two girls are going to be such good friends when they grow older.  It seems that whatever Jas does, Julia follows.  Take a look at the monkeys.  The below pics are from the old house still.  

Love the New Couch

We just bought a new couch for our place. As we wanted something more contemporary than the one we have currently (brown leather couch) so we picked an L-shape leather couch where the head rests can be adjusted to what you want.  The kids seem to like walking around on it.

Here's a quick peek at what it looks like.  We are now on the hunt for some nice cushions.
